Free Portrait and Wedding Contest Winners

Over this past week being away from home I have found myself more and more grateful for what I have. (In no particular order) My own home, my son, my Mr. E, my vacation, my very very supportive friends, my family, forgiveness, my car, my health (and in the last 8 hours being sick to my stomach hit that one home).

Some of the things I am thankful for are my possessions, objects that I have purchased or have been purchased for me, as they allow me to live and raise my son in a place where we are both safe. They allow me to run my business and continue with my artistic passion. Other things that are not materials such as my health and love I receive are even more vital to my life. But when both are stripped from you it is very hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. That things can change.

Everyone that entered had amazing needs for free photography coverage. I stared and reread all the entries for the past week and had the most difficult time deciding. I made my decision based on the idea that despite the gloomy weather my winners truly needed some sort of hope.

I would like to congratulate Diana and Eric on winning full wedding coverage. I would also like to congratulate Trisha, who was nominated by her friend Stephanie, for winning the free portrait session. I will be contacting you both very soon!

Winners

More about both of the winners stories will be updated soon! I need to get a little more rest before I attempt to stomach kayaking tomorrow. This nausea has to go away at some point ;)

Thank you to all who entered. I was truly touched by your stories. I am going to bind them and the pictures to read to my son. Your honesty, and hope in love and in God will be something much greater to teach him than any school book could.

Too Often… + a Give-a-way

Too often I find myself worrying about the small things. Too often I worry about the big things. Too often I find myself putting away my loved ones neatly on a shelf, “Don’t worry I’ll come back to you just as soon as I finish this project, or album, or homework.” Too often I find myself barely holding my head above water.

Recently it has been far too often that I have seen my family, my neighbors, my friends struggling and putting what truly matters in life away on a shelf. Our current __________ state is in “crisis.” Whatever you chose to fill in the blank or however you define crisis there is an area in your life that you have been putting away on a shelf.

I am begging you to pull whoever or whatever that is off the shelf and come acknowledge its importance with me. Be it your family, your new home, your friends, your favorite book, your favorite type of dance, your favorite person, or yourself.

I would like to show my son that even when we have rainy days, and when we can barely hold our heads above water that there is still room for love. That love is truly more important than work, despite the financial stability it can bring.

I am offering up my photography services for free to those who are currently struggling. I am asking YOU to nominate these people, even nominate yourself! These well deserving people must have been truly affected by the current economy along the lines of a loss of home, the loss of a job, or even those who are just plain struggling. If you would otherwise not be able to afford full coverage for your wedding or an album this contest is for you. Here is what I am offering:

1 Wedding and 1 portrait session

The Wedding includes:

Up to 10 hours of coverage
A second shooter
All images on a DVD
All images hosted online
A 20 page 10×10 leather album

The portrait session includes:

A 3 hour portrait session
All images on a DVD
All images hosted online
A 20 page 8×8 leather album

I am asking you to tell their (or your own) story via photos, video, or in writing. I would love to hear details of your big day, or your portrait session. All entries must include a photo of the person entering or being nominated as well as a valid email address. Approach your friends and neighbors, anyone who you truly think this would benefit! All entries are due by March 21st, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. The winners will be announced the following week March 28th by 11:59 p.m. The coverage must be scheduled between now and December 31st 2010.

And since it is never too often for an image, here are a few I took of my E while it was raining last week :)

So here’s the thing

I have been a very very bad blogger lately. No excuses. And I think because everyone has been so patient you definitely deserve something. I was trying to think of a way to treat the masses but I feel that if I did that everyone would end up with something lame like a sugar free lollipop or a great job sticker. And we all know that is never any fun.

So instead I am treating the first 5 people that comment below with a $10 itunes gift card. Easy right? Heres the catch.. you have to do something nice for someone. I don’t mind if its taking out the trash for your husband who hates doing it, or giving your dog a milkbone. Pick something and comment about it below and the gift card is yours! And even if you weren’t one of the first 5 I’d still like to hear about something nice you’ve done!

To catch you up on my life… I have been running around like crazy! This month has been awesome and I am really excited to see how things are growing! I have met awesome new clients, signed up for a fantabulous workshop, and even got a new workspace with a brand new Mac computer! What does this mean for you? As a client that means you get more bang for your buck. My work is improving along with my customer service! No more computers crashing, with no more delays in returned images! And of course an even happier me!

I have a wedding, portrait, baby and boudoir session all coming up in the next two weeks! I promise to bring you some blog eye candy soon!

The Sister Shoot

As some of you may remember I held a contest a few months back asking my readers to submit a picture of how they celebrated life. You voted for your favorite and Kristin won the free shoot with me! She decided to use it for a Christmas gift for her parents, and got her two other sisters involved. You may remember Candace, her younger sister, from her Senior shoot a while back.

I had a blast with Kristin, Candace, and Michelle! Pretty good looking sistahs if you ask me ;)

The winners for The Shackbook have also been drawn. I put all this names in a list in the order recieved and then used the site Random.org to randomly select to winners. Here is a screen shot ;)

A big thank you goes out to Scott Roberts Photography, who generously donated another copy of the book to be given away.

Our winners are Michele Pineda and Jeff Vu!!!

I will be sending out an email tonight to all the winners to get contact information. Thanks for participating!
