Off to SF

I’m going to be in San Fran for the rest of this week with limited to none email access. I will respond to all emails by Friday night. I apologize for any inconvience. I hope that everyone had a good Memorial Day as hard as that may be. I was blessed enough to spend time with my family, luckily none of us are off fighting. I know that there are many other families that are not as lucky and my heart and prayers go out to you.

We spent the day eating and celebrating my brother’s birthday which was the day before. Happy birthday little brother! We spent most of the day outside, E happened to be distracted and i snapped this quick shot. So here is to those who have been requesting shots of the babe lol.

I also got the chance to get a few shots of my mother’s day gift, this lovely shootsac and cover!! I can’t believe Brett was listening when i mentioned I wanted one! He made me an awesome card to go with it but he really doesn’t want me to share it. Ill have to convince him one night and throw it up here. Haha he used stickers and everything ;)

I’ll be back with some awesome pictures!

Give-a-way!!

My life has quickly changed over the last few months and just recently I have made a decision that will alter my path for good! This decision deserves a celebration and what better way to celebrate than with music?!

But I think I should obviously give some background to who I am and how I have gotten here.  I was on my way to nursing school up until a few months ago.  I was accepted into CSUF new entry level bachelors program and I was super excited!  That was until my boyfriend bought me a camera… I had given up the hopes of being a photographer and figured I would just keep it as a hobby later in life.  I needed a stable job to support my son and I, and I had no clue how photography was going to do that for me.  But the new camera brought life back into me where I had previously been burnt out. It gave me an area in life to express myself and call my own.  I really needed to learn how to work the camera.  I thought to myself, I’ll just find a workshop and then maybe after nursing school I could start to use my camera and do side jobs, never sure if I could make it as a full time job.  I had been praying for weeks on a way to turn my dreams of having a photography business into reality, when Michael Norwood posted on his blog that he was going to be teaching a workshop (along with Fred Egan and Amy Coffey).  I had never met Michael formally but I had seen him shoot my friend’s wedding.  He seemed super happy and I was amazed at the quality of his shots.  He made everything look like gold! Haha.  I was lucky enough to be able to sign up for the workshop and from there I have never been the same.  Anyway a long story semi-short, Michael took me under his wing.  He has opened up so many doors for me and for that I will be eternally grateful.

Today is the day I announce that I will officially not be attending the CSUF Nursing Program!!  I feel great to be free of something that wasn’t me, and for being blessed enough to have so many people supporting me as I change careers.  From here on out its photography!!

So in celebration, I have decided to have a contest for my readers who support me on a daily basis! Your comments and suggestions help me improve my images continuously!

I want you to show me how you celebrate a new change in your life, be it with music or something else, by sending me a picture!  Some helpful friends and I will select three images to be posted here on the blog.  Then you the readers get to vote on the winner!  The images should be fun because after all this is a celebration! The first place winner will get a free shoot with me, be it portraits, engagements, or just for fun; plus a $25 itunes gift card!  The second and third place winners will get a $10 itunes gift card!

Send your images to me at info.nwphotographer@gmail.com.  They need to be 900×600 pixels or the opposite for portrait. Send me a short paragraph description of the picture about why you celebrate this way.  Entries must be in by midnight June 8th, 2008.  The three nominees will be announced the following week.  The first place winner shoot must be shot within an hour driving distance of my studio in North Orange County.  If you have any questions or comments send me an email or leave a comment!

Prom ’08

So I got my camera and lens back today, Yay! I haven’t really tried it out yet so tomorrow, or later today rather will be the real test. A piece on my lens was broken and it was also having focusing issues. No bueno! But I have hopes for my little lens to produce some hot sexy camera love this week :)

Last week was my brother’s prom. If any of you know my brother you know he hates when I try to take a picture of him. It just doesn’t happen. Luckily though I was able to sneak a few of these. Sorry for the lack of creativity but I had to be stealthy! One day he’ll thank me lol ;)

Love ya little bro
