My grandma passed away last friday, January 2nd, and her funeral was held today. Everyone has been so supportive and really given me the opportunity to view death in a different manner. I am not depressed, or angry with the world, but happy that I got to spend part of my life with her
She was an beautiful and strong woman, who battled Alzheimer’s Disease for over 7 years, and I could not be more proud of her.

While visiting her for the last time before she passed away, I wanted to take a few images to hold onto. I know how hard it is for many to photograph those who are ill or dying but I felt that I needed this image as part of my healing process.

Also if you haven’t heard yet, Vu Bui (of the Bui Brothers) and I started a project on January 1st, 2009. A new portrait of me is taken daily and posted up on the site. Check check check it out
