Too Often… + a Give-a-way

Too often I find myself worrying about the small things. Too often I worry about the big things. Too often I find myself putting away my loved ones neatly on a shelf, “Don’t worry I’ll come back to you just as soon as I finish this project, or album, or homework.” Too often I find myself barely holding my head above water.

Recently it has been far too often that I have seen my family, my neighbors, my friends struggling and putting what truly matters in life away on a shelf. Our current __________ state is in “crisis.” Whatever you chose to fill in the blank or however you define crisis there is an area in your life that you have been putting away on a shelf.

I am begging you to pull whoever or whatever that is off the shelf and come acknowledge its importance with me. Be it your family, your new home, your friends, your favorite book, your favorite type of dance, your favorite person, or yourself.

I would like to show my son that even when we have rainy days, and when we can barely hold our heads above water that there is still room for love. That love is truly more important than work, despite the financial stability it can bring.

I am offering up my photography services for free to those who are currently struggling. I am asking YOU to nominate these people, even nominate yourself! These well deserving people must have been truly affected by the current economy along the lines of a loss of home, the loss of a job, or even those who are just plain struggling. If you would otherwise not be able to afford full coverage for your wedding or an album this contest is for you. Here is what I am offering:

1 Wedding and 1 portrait session

The Wedding includes:

Up to 10 hours of coverage
A second shooter
All images on a DVD
All images hosted online
A 20 page 10×10 leather album

The portrait session includes:

A 3 hour portrait session
All images on a DVD
All images hosted online
A 20 page 8×8 leather album

I am asking you to tell their (or your own) story via photos, video, or in writing. I would love to hear details of your big day, or your portrait session. All entries must include a photo of the person entering or being nominated as well as a valid email address. Approach your friends and neighbors, anyone who you truly think this would benefit! All entries are due by March 21st, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. The winners will be announced the following week March 28th by 11:59 p.m. The coverage must be scheduled between now and December 31st 2010.

And since it is never too often for an image, here are a few I took of my E while it was raining last week:)

OH MY GOSH NATALIE!!! This is so awesome that you are doing this! Your son is a very blessed little boy for having such a wonderful mom, he will no doubt grow up to be a strong and giving young man!!! I hope this project inspires people to reflect and cherish their blessings and remembers how wonderful it feels to help those in need. I am proud to know you and call you friend :) !

Kevin Le Vu - February 13, 2009 - 11:49 am

I find what you wrote to be true. I have been too busy for family, friends, and everyone who is important my life. It’s time to put on the ropes and pull them back. Awwww E, i love the last BW photo of him.

Best,

Kevin

You, my dear, are an angel. I would like to post about this on my blog tomorrow, if it is OK with you.
My hope and prayer (and belief, by the way) is that you will in return be blessed beyond measure by this generous offer.
Warmly,
Robyn

I found your site through Mix Mingle Glow. I am not in need of a wedding photographer or anything, but I just wanted to stop by and say that I think it’s a lovely thing you are doing with this giveaway!

This really is amazing. I haven’t personally been hit too hard by the economy, but I know so many who have. Unfortunately (or fortunately!) none of them are getting married. Thank you for being so wonderful with this contest though, whoever wins is so lucky!

This is truly a wonderful thing you are doing. Eventhough I don’t know you very well, I can already tell that you are a caring and genuine person just by your honest and sobering reflections. We definitely need more people like you in this world.
